Description
Frogs Hall is a pair of cottages, originally a single house, dating from the early to mid 17th century. The building follows a 3-cell cross-passage plan. The main range is single-storied with attics, while the parlour cross-wing rises to two storeys. The structure is timber-framed and plastered; the gable on the left side and part of the rear wall were rebuilt in the 20th century using brick. The roof is covered in Roman pantiles, with a 19th-century gabled casement dormer. An axial 17th-century chimney exists, with the shaft largely rebuilt in red brick during the 19th century. Various 19th and 20th-century casement windows and panelled entrance doors are present. The hall and parlour each have back-to-back open fireplaces. The parlour features unmoulded exposed timber framing, characteristic of the 17th century, with chamfered and on-edge floor joists. The roof is a wind-braced butt-purlin construction.
