Description
The Church of St Mary is a parish church built in 1878 by H.J. Green of Norwich, designed in the style of the late 13th century. It features a nave, chancel, and a south porch, constructed from flint and septaria rubble with freestone dressings. The roofs are covered with plain tiles and have parapet gables. At the west end, there is a notable corbelled bellcote with a steep gabled head. The windows are hood-moulded and exhibit Geometric tracery. Inside, there is a fine 15th-century font made of limestone; the octagonal bowl is adorned with angels holding shields, and figures of lions are positioned at the angles of the stem. The church retains many original fittings and fixtures. This building occupies the site of a medieval parish church that had a similar two-cell layout.
