Description
No 12 Northgate Street is an early to mid-19th century building made of grey gault brick, which is now painted. It stands three storeys tall with cellars and features a five-window range with double-hung sash windows that have glazing bars and plain reveals. The central window on the first storey is highlighted by a stucco architrave with a pediment supported by console brackets. The ground storey includes 20th-century shop windows set within a 19th-century shop front that has pilasters, a fascia, and a modillion cornice. The roof is covered with slate. This building is part of a group of listed buildings along Northgate Street, which includes the Great White Horse Hotel on Tavern Street and several properties on Great Colman Street and St Margaret's Plain.
