Description
Sunnyside is a house that was built in 1867 by builder HB Smith and is now converted into flats. It features a combination of red and white brick with slate roofs and stands three storeys tall with an attic. The symmetrical facade is divided into three distinct bays, with the outer two bays showcasing brick clasping pilasters that rise to minimal capitals, supporting open pedimented gable-ends. These outer bays have three-storey canted window bays fitted with one-over-one horned sashes, and the upper floor contains a two-over-two horned sash in the centre of each bay. Each side bay has a tripartite sash in the attic storey with one-over-one glazing bars. The central bay is two-storeyed and features a triangular porch entrance that is accessed by steps leading through an arched opening to a four-panelled door. The south side of the porch includes an arched leaded window filled with coloured glass, and the porch has a triradial roof. Above the porch is a three-over-three horned sash. The building has gabled roofs and chimney stacks on the north side of each outer bay. Inside, the staircase has two turned balusters for each tread and a ramped and wreathed handrail, along with four-panelled internal doors. Sunnyside is part of a group of fine houses on Fonnereau Road.
