Description

Swan House is an 18th century or early 19th century building located in Newmarket. It is two storeys tall and constructed of red brick with a roughcast front. The house features two wide sash windows with glazing bars on each floor, and the ground floor windows have cambered heads. There is a plinth and two entrances, also with cambered heads. The steep roof is covered with slates, and the eaves soffit is visible. A fairly massive central chimney adds to the structure's character. Swan House is part of an important central group of buildings in Newmarket, situated around the "island."
