Description

Number 20 on Church Street, formerly known as the Castle Inn, dates back to the 17th century with a front added in the 18th century. This two-storey building features a timber frame with stucco and has a band below the parapet. The front is covered with modern pantiles, while the rear has plain tiles. It has two sash windows set in flush frames with glazing bars. The shop front includes a wooden case, and there is a brick plinth. The entrance consists of a two-panel, fielded door within a wooden case that is adorned with pilasters and a pediment. It is noted that there is good early panelling in the bar area and in one room on the first floor. This building is part of a group that includes numbers 2 to 30 on the same street.
