Description

Grove Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse built of English bond brick, featuring a slate and plain-tiled roof. The building has a T-shaped plan and consists of two storeys with an attic, along with a single-storey section. The garden front, which was likely the original entrance front, has three bays arranged symmetrically. It features a projecting plinth, and all ground floor windows have cambered heads and consist of three lights. There is a band of three bricks in depth between the ground and first floors. The first floor also has three additional three-light casements with cambered heads. On either side of the central bay in the upper walling are single-light windows. At the far left and right, there are arched niches set low in the wall above the band, which appear to be bee boles. The central bay shows patched brickwork at both the ground and first floor levels. Below the shaped gables of the attic, there is a band of two bricks in depth, with the gables having concave bodies and semi-circular heads divided by further bands. The central gable has been completely renewed in 20th-century brick. The farmhouse features swept valleys and axial stacks with two flues on both the left and right gables. The left side has blank walling on the ground floor, a band of three bricks in depth between the ground and first floors, and a 20th-century single-light window on the first floor at the left. There is a blocked window on the right and two blocked windows in the attic. The left gable has a shaped gable with a flat top and concave sides. At the rear, there is a lower wing with random fenestration. The right gable end is blank and has a shaped gable similar to the one on the left. The interior has not been inspected.
