Description
Greylands is a mansion built in the early 19th century with later additions. It is constructed of gault brick and features slated, hipped roofs with wide moulded eaves. The building has an 'L' plan and stands two storeys tall. The garden elevation showcases prominent architectural details, including stucco Corinthian fluted pilasters at the corners in a giant order and a three-window range with sashes that have glazing bars in recessed frames, topped with gauged brick flat arches. On the ground floor, there are two large canted bays with flat roofs, featuring full-height sashes with glazing bars in recessed frames and gauged brick flat arches. To the southeast, there is an extruded corner with a flat roof and a long, lower two-storey extension that has a slated hipped roof and colour-washed brick. This extension terminates in a late 19th-century one-storey block with a canted bay and sashes in recessed frames with a single glazing bar. A verandah with cast iron decorated filigree supports and a valance connects this extension to the main house. The property has various chimney stacks, some made of red brick and others rendered.
