Description

This lamp standard, located by the gateway southwest of the tower of the Church of St Andrew, dates from the late 19th century. It is made of cast iron and features a baluster shape with a lotus leaf type of pedestal. The shaft is twisted and tapered, and it includes moulded ladder rests and a lantern topped with a ball finial. Originally designed as a gas lamp, it has since been converted to electric lighting.
