Description

Wilford Lodge, originally a single house now divided into two occupations, dates back to the 17th century, with an altered right-angled wing added in the early 19th century. It is constructed of timber framing with sections of stucco over red brick, and has a tiled roof. The left-hand wing features a stuccoed Dutch gable with a chimney stack. The front elevation has a hipped roof and a five-window range of sash windows with glazing bars set in recessed frames. The left-hand wing has a four-window range, one of which is blocked, and also features sash windows with glazing bars in flush frames. A portico in antis, featuring pilasters and an arched dummy fanlight in Adam style, provides the entrance. The door is a six-panelled fielded door with matching linings. The interior retains plastered ceilings with exposed beams and a fine 18th-century staircase with twisted balusters. Additionally, there is an Adam-style mantelpiece.
