Description
Little Hill Farmhouse is a former farmhouse dating from the mid 17th century. It is timber-framed and encased in mid 19th century red brick, topped with a thatched roof. The building has two storeys and features a two-cell end chimney plan. The end chimney stack, located on the right, is integrated within the frame and has a small plain red brick shaft. There are two windows on each floor, which are 19th century three-light mullion-and-transom types with arched heads to the frames and surrounds. The entrance features a plank door, positioned in its original location, leading into the hall. Inside, the hall has an exposed ceiling with widely spaced joists and a small deep main beam, all of which are chamfered and have step-stopped finishes. To the left of the entrance, there is an unheated room that may have been separated by a plank screen, as there are no signs of studding below the cross-beam. On the upper floor, remnants of a studded partition indicate that the area was divided into two rooms. The rafters are concealed, and the roof space is inaccessible. Long arched braces are present on the end wall.
