Description

Oak Tree Farmhouse is a late 16th/early 17th century farmhouse, with later extensions and alterations, including raising the front roof slope in the late 18th century. The house is timber-framed and largely brick-cased, with 17th and 18th century brickwork, mostly colourwashed. It has a pantiled roof. The farmhouse is two storeys and an attic, with a four-window front. There are various three- and four-light casement windows, along with two small-pane sash windows on the right-hand side. The upper range of windows are dummies, a result of the raising of the original roof, which still remains. An asymmetrical entrance features a six-panel door, a semi-circular fanlight, and a portico with Greek Doric columns, frieze, and cornice. There are two internal stacks, the right-hand one having a moulded base. A leaded cross window is located at the rear. The group value stems from its contribution to the historic character of the locality.
