Description
Buxlow Manor is a house dated 1678, as indicated by iron ties in the main gables. It has an E-shape plan with symmetrical wings and is constructed of red brick, featuring brick bands at the first and second floor levels. The building has a plaintile roof and is two storeys high with an attic. It has a five-window range with original mullion and transom leaded casements set under segmental arches. The central narrow porch is full height, though the original doorway is now blocked and has been replaced by a window. Above the porch are two semi-circular niches with a blank panel between them, and a smaller niche at the top of the gable contains a figure of St Agnes. The eaves cornice is coved, and the gables are in Dutch style with semi-circular pediments and brick copings. The interior was modernised in the 1930s when the original staircase was rebuilt.
