Description

Shrubbery Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse located on Ipswich Road in Charsfield. It features a timber frame with pebbledashed, colourwashed render and a plain tile roof, which was originally thatched. The building has a three-cell, two-storey plan with an attic.

On the entrance front, there is a 20th-century four-panel door on the right, accompanied by a 20th-century lattice gabled porch. To the left of the entrance, there is another doorway with a glazed panel. Between these two doors, a three-light 19th-century casement window is situated, with a similar window at the far right. To the left of the entrance, there is one three-light casement and a two-light casement. The first floor features four 19th-century three-light casements, and there is a shallow gabled dormer window with two lights in the attic. A three-flue stack is located at the left ridge.

On the right gable end, there is a ground floor sash window with four panes by four panes and a two-light casement window in the attic. The rear of the farmhouse includes a projecting two-storey outshut on the right, which has a chimney stack with two flues and offsets of tumbled brick. To the left of this outshut, there is a single-storey outshut with a lean-to roof and a two-light window. A 20th-century glazed window with six panels is located to the left, next to a window with three panes by two panes. On the first floor at the left, there is a three-light casement, and another stack is positioned below the ridge on the left with two flues.

Inside, the farmhouse features chamfered ceiling beams, close studded walling, and jowled wall posts.
