Description
The Bell Hotel is a public house dating from the 17th century, which has been significantly altered and extended to the west in the late 19th century. The roof was rebuilt after a fire in 1949. The building has a timber-framed core with brick extensions and a plastered facade, topped with a modern plain tile roof. It stands two storeys high with an attic. The modern casement windows feature square leaded panes and lack transoms. The older section includes two 5-light splayed bay windows and a modern porch with a half-glazed door, all beneath a continuous moulded wood cornice. The late 19th-century extension matches this style, featuring a full-height gable facing the front, one 5-light bay window, and one half-glazed door with a flat hood. There is one internal stack and one external stack on the west side. To the east, there is a former stable block now used as a restaurant, constructed of painted brick with pantiles, single storey, featuring three sash windows and a four-panel door. The building is included for its group value.
