Description
The former Royal Flying Corps barrack block at Orford Ness is a building made of concrete with a timber frame and covered by a 20th-century corrugated metal roof. It has a rectangular plan that consists of 10 bays in length and 3 bays in width.
The exterior features a central gable roof section with a shallow pitch and lights beneath the eaves, with outshots on either side that have pent roofs and pier divisions. The metal framed windows in the outshots are mostly intact. At the east end, double doors have been added to the central section, flanked by metal framed casements.
Inside, the roof is covered with felt over timber planking and is supported by timber posts and metal columns, although some timber posts have been replaced. The building still retains some conduits and light fittings.
