Description

Hall Cottage is originally a farmhouse, now a single-cell cottage, representing the left-hand portion of a larger house. It dates to the early 17th century. The building is timber framed and plastered, with a pantiled roof. It is two storeys high with an attic. It has two windows, fitted with large-pane casements from the mid-20th century, a mid-20th century boarded door, and a simple open porch. A substantial stack is located at the left-hand gable end. A lean-to addition has been built to the left-hand side. The interior features exposed joists on the ground floor. The first floor reveals exposed framing, original floorboarding and a good plank cornice with ovolo moulding. A newel staircase exists, largely rebuilt.
