Description
Sturches is a house that dates back to the early 16th century, with a late 18th or early 19th century addition on the left side and a mid-20th century addition at the rear. The building is timber framed and plastered, topped with a pantiled roof. It has a single storey and an attic, featuring a two-cell plan; originally, it was a single storey dwelling with the right-hand cell unheated. The house has mid-20th century casement windows with diamond leaded glass, two 20th century doors, and two shallow-gabled dormers. There is an internal stack, and the right-hand gable end includes a 19th century pointed-arch casement window. A datestone inscribed 'TM 1733', originally from another part of the house, is now set into the left-hand addition. Inside, there is exposed framing and some early floorboarding.
