Description
Sweffling Grange is a former rectory that has been converted into a private residence. It has an 18th-century core and was remodeled and extended to the south in 1831, with some earlier work visible to the north. The building is primarily constructed of white brick, with the 18th-century section made of colorwashed red brick, and features a slated roof with wide overhanging eaves.
The structure is two stories tall with a symmetrical facade that includes three sash windows with glazing bars set in flush frames. The entrance is approached by a flight of five steps leading to a six-panel door, where the upper four panels are glazed. Above the door is a rectangular fanlight with radiating glazing bars, all sheltered by a Roman Doric portico, which has wooden panelling on the sides.
To the right of the main block is a two-story red brick range that incorporates some 16th or 17th-century elements. On the left side of the main block, there is a two-light semi-circular bay, with the ground floor windows extending to ground level, and a well-designed Regency-style verandah.
