Description
Sweffling Hall is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with an extension to the left of the cross wing, likely added in the 19th century. The building is timber framed and plastered, with the facade designed to resemble ashlar. There is some later colourwashed brick casing at the newer end. The roof is tiled with plain tiles at the front and pantiles at the rear. The structure has two storeys and an attic in the later section, featuring five windows that include 19th and mid-20th century casements.
The older part of the farmhouse has two doorways: on the right side, there is a lobby entrance with a mid-20th century panelled door set in a gabled porch that has wavy bargeboards and a spike finial; on the left side, there is a four-panel door, with the upper two panels glazed. To the left side, there are also two pairs of mid-20th century garage doors. Inside, there are two internal stacks, and the interior has been significantly altered in the 19th century, although there are good exposed joists in one of the ground floor rooms.
