Description

This is a row of four early 17th-century buildings, altered later, located on London Road. The buildings are two stories high and now have a modern roughcast finish. The roofs are tiled with pantiles. The upper floors feature three-light casement windows, while the ground floor windows of numbers 25 and 26 are sash windows. Numbers 25 and 26 have six-panel doors with architraves, friezes, and cornices; numbers 27 and 28 have vertically boarded doors.

Inside number 25, there are two-panel doors with wrought iron strap hinges, some attached with lugs, a wide fireplace constructed of thin bricks with a chamfered beam above, an arched cupboard with shaped shelves (originally containing doors), heavy joists, and exposed timber framing. Number 26 contains a very wide fireplace made of thin bricks with a curved, hewn beam.

Numbers 1 and 2, numbers 4 to 10, and numbers 25 to 28 form a group. Buildings numbers 1 and 2 also group with number 38 and the White Lion public house on Thoroughfare.
