Description

Nos 63 and 63A on London Road were formerly known as the Trowel and Hammer Inn. This building dates from the early 17th century and features a timber frame that is plastered, lined, and painted. It has a pantile roof and a large chimney, and it consists of one storey with an attic. The windows include casements, with No 63A having a ground floor bow window that features glazing bars. Inside, there is a massive shop chamfered beam and heavy joists, along with a two-panel fielded door. The first floor has a moulded vertical boarded door with wrought strap hinges. Nos 51 to 61 (consecutive) and Nos 63 and 63A are part of a group of buildings.
