Description

This barn, aligned east-west and located 40 metres north of Red House, dates from the late 16th century. It has five bays and is constructed with a timber frame and weatherboarding, originally infilled with wattle and daub. The roof is covered with Roman pantiles and features arch-braced close-studwork and a wind-braced clasped-purlin structure. Around 1600, a sixth bay was added to the west end, built in a similar style, which may have been used for stabling or additional corn storage.
