Description

Crown Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th century. It is timber framed with colourwashed render and brick nogged infill, topped by a plain tile roof that was probably originally thatched. The building has two storeys.

The front facing School Lane features three 2-light windows and two single-light windows on the ground floor, all dating from the 20th century. On the first floor, there is a 2-light window positioned left of centre, a 4-light window with diamond-section mullions to the right, and a single-light window immediately to the right of that. An axial stack with two flues is located at the ridge, left of centre.

On the right gable end, there is a 3-light window on the ground floor and two single-light windows on the first floor, all of 20th-century origin. The left gable end has a 3-light ground floor casement with colourwashed rendered walling. The first floor is jettied and supported on brackets, featuring a decorative bressumer. The walling is close studded with jowled wall posts and includes a central 3-light window with brick nogging. The jettied gable also has a decorative bressumer and is similarly close studded with brick nogging.

At the rear, there are two 2-light ground floor casements and a single-light window with a stable door to the left, while the first floor has four 2-light casements. The roof is made of pantiles, with slates covering the lower body above the eaves. The interior has not been inspected.
