Description

This is a late 16th-century farmhouse, with alterations in the 19th century. It comprises a main range and a cross-wing. The original timber frame is now largely concealed by a 19th-century red brick facade, with plaintiles on one roof slope and slates on the other. A portion of the original red brick gable end remains, featuring bands, and there's a substantial external brick stack on the rear wall with moulded offsets and two later square detached shafts. Some original lattice windows are at the rear, while the front features mainly 19th-century 3-light and 4-light mullion-and-transome windows with segmental arched heads, all containing small panes of glass. A panelled entrance door is set within an original, heavily-moulded surround. Inside, most of the timbers are covered, but one main beam displays a multiple roll moulding. Various old, moulded plank doors remain.
