Description

Friends Meeting House is a building that dates back to 1678, with significant alterations made in the 18th century. The structure includes an early part that was incorporated into a larger building, which is now fronted with stucco and lined to resemble ashlar, while the rear is made of red brick. The roof is tiled.

Inside, the Hall features two large sash windows set in flush frames and has a gallery with a panelled balustrade. A staircase with spiral balusters leads up from the hall. The older section of the building retains leaded mullion transom casements. Bernard Barton, who served as Clerk to the Meeting for 40 years, is buried in the adjoining graveyard.

Friends Meeting House, along with Nos 1 to 4, forms a group of listed buildings.
