Description
The barn located immediately to the north-west of St. Andrew's Hall dates back to the 17th century. It is constructed of red brick, laid in Flemish Bond on the outside and English Bond on the inside, with a clay pantile roof. The south-east side features a full height gabled porch and high corbelled gables. There are diamond-shaped ventilation holes in both gables as well as on the rear wall. The threshing floor is paved with limestone flags. The roof consists of seven bays, supported by two rows of stepped butt purlins, with the ends of the purlins tapered. Only the two central trusses on each side of the entry include tie-beams; the remaining trusses are supported by long bolted arched braces.
