Description

This is a 17th-century building of two and a half stories, originally timber-framed and now faced with stucco, with a brick plinth. The roof is covered in pantiles, and the building features ogee bracket cornices on numbers 40 and 41. Dormer windows have pedimented casements. The first floor has five three-light casement windows in flush frames. The ground floor has two sash windows in flush frames. A canted three-light splay bay is located on the left, and a five-sided sashed bay window with a decorative frieze and cornice on the right. There are three doors, each with wooden casings; the door for number 40 is a three-panel door with glazing bars that match the windows. The doors feature panelled pilasters with fluted brackets, a fluted architrave, and a dentil cornice. A chimney stack is present with hexagonal flues attached and a panelled base, along with a projecting end chimney.
