Description
The walling, gatepiers, and gates attached to the north corner of Witnesham Hall date from the 18th century and were raised and remodelled around 1842. The structure extends approximately 10 metres to the north-west from the rear of Witnesham Hall and then returns north-eastwards for 40 metres, serving to screen the stable range beyond. It is constructed of red brick with moulded terracotta copings. The wall features a carriage gateway flanked by heavy square piers and a pair of ornamental wrought iron gates. At the north-east end, there is an additional square pier. The section of wall connecting to the Hall was raised around 1842 and includes blind hood-moulded windows and embattled copings.
