Description
Butley Abbey and Priory Rere-Dorter, also known as the Refectory, is a barn that served as the rere-dorter for Butley Abbey. It dates from the early 13th century and has been restored and incorporated into 20th-century farm buildings. The structure is built of random stone and flint, topped with a thatched roof. It features stepped buttresses at the corners and on either side of the barn doors. There are two unglazed slit openings with four red brick mullions. The barn has 20th-century double ledged framed and braced doors with glazed lights above.
