Description

The Old Bakery is a group value property comprising two houses, one dating back to the 16th century and the other to the 17th. The south-western house is timber-framed and plastered, featuring a cross wing at the south-west end that is jettied on the first storey. The main block is one storey high with attics, while the cross wing is two storeys high. The other house is timber-framed and plastered, with exposed timber framing and a front gable which has the upper storey jettied on exposed joists. Windows are casement windows with leaded lights. The roofs are tiled, with two gabled dormers and a large square chimney stack on the main block. Internally, the building retains exposed timber framing, ceiling beams, and joists, some of which are moulded. A Tudor doorway features a castellated doorhead carved with roses.
