Description

The tomb to John Lewis, located in the churchyard of St Mary, is a late 18th-century tomb chest that commemorates John Lewis, who died in 1777. It is constructed of red brick and features an ashlar slab. The tomb is rectangular in shape and has square moulded brick panels that are flanked by fluted pilasters adorned with moulded strapwork friezes. It is topped with a cornice, and the slab bears an inscription that is now largely illegible.
