Description

70 and 71 High Street is a 19th-century red brick building with a tiled roof, located in Lavenham. It stands two storeys tall and features a two-window range of double-hung sash windows with glazing bars, set in flush cased frames. The northern part of the building is slightly set back and includes a 19th-century shop window with glazing bars. The north gable end has one window range and there is a ridge chimney stack. The building is noted for its group value with the adjacent properties, Nos 70 to 80. Additionally, No 70 has a panel inscribed "Willm. W. Roper 1885," indicating that Roper was also the builder of the horse hair factory in Water Street.
