Description
39 and 39A High Street is a building that was likely an inn, originating in the 16th century, but it was altered on the front in the 18th century. The structure has two storeys and is timber-framed with plaster and pebbledashed panels featuring rustications on the front. The roof is tiled and has a dentilled and modillion eaves cornice.
On the upper storey, there is a range of six 3-light bar and transom windows. The ground storey features two splayed bays, including one large bay with 33 panes and two doorways beneath a slate-roofed canopy. There is also another splayed bay and a modern doorway at the north end. The smaller bays have double-hung sashes with glazing bars. Additionally, there is a cart entrance at the north end.
