Description

The Church of St Mary Magdalene is a 15th and 16th century church located on elevated ground about half a mile west of Bildeston. It is constructed from flint and rubble with stone dressings. The west tower collapsed in 1975, and the nave has been temporarily repaired. The church features a well-designed two-storey south porch with flushwork. Above the entrance, there is a small priest's chamber that opens to the nave and includes a gallery; the doorway is decorated with crowns and shields. The nave roof showcases alternating moulded and castellated tie beams and hammer beams. The church is recognized for its historical significance and architectural details, particularly the roof and porch.
