Description
The stables at Boxted Hall, built in the 19th century, are located approximately 50 yards north of Boxted Hall. These red brick buildings are arranged in a half H plan, featuring an open courtyard that faces south. A panel on the building displays the initials J G W P and the date 1851. The stables are two storeys high, with the main block slightly projecting forward in the center. It has a gabled roof, a lantern with a clock face on the south side, a pyramid roof, and a weathervane. The ground floor includes wide carriage entrance doors topped with a cornice on console brackets. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars set in shallow reveals and have segmental heads, with some being three-light. The side wings feature three-light casements and segmental windows above. The roofs are hipped and covered with slate.
