Description
Cressland Kedges End is a former house of significance, likely a master weaver's dwelling, built in a half H plan with outbuildings that create an internal courtyard. It possibly dates from the 15th to 16th century but underwent alterations in the 17th century, especially on the front. The lintel of the front doorway bears the date 1654. The building is timber-framed and plastered, topped with a tiled roof and a tall ridge chimney stack. It has two storeys and attics, featuring a three-window range on the front with bar and transom casements that have leaded lights. In the center, there is a two-storeyed splayed bay, and the outer ranges of the upper storey have shallow oriels. The center and south ranges are flanked by small high-level windows with two lights. The south end includes an upper-storey window with five lower lights and nine upper lights. The north gable showcases finely carved bargeboards.
