Description

The Cottage is a 17th to 18th century timber-framed and plastered house located on Church Street in Stoke-by-Nayland. It features a long frontage facing north-west and is set above the road level, with a grass bank sloping down to the road. At the south-west end, part of the front has a jettied upper storey supported by curved brackets. There is a later addition at the south-west end, which includes one window range. The main block has five window ranges, with double-hung sashes, some of which have glazing bars, while others are small sashes with vertical glazing bars. The entrance features a six-panel door with a rectangular fanlight, framed by an architrave and topped with a cornice hood. The roof is tiled and has three tall chimney stacks.
