Description
Maltings Farmhouse is a timber-framed and plastered house that dates from the 16th to 17th century, although it has undergone significant alterations in the 18th and 19th centuries. The house features cross wings at the north-east and south-west ends and was refronted in the late 18th or early 19th century, with renovations occurring in the 20th century. The gables are adorned with plaster ornamentation, and the central block has a castellated parapet. At the north-east end, there is a red brick maltings building accompanied by a circular oast house. The rear of the farmhouse has flint and brick wings that rise to two storeys. The front facade has a five-window range, with two windows blocked on the first storey. The double-hung sash windows include glazing bars, with the centre and outer windows being two-light. The centre window features a stucco hood mould. A six-panel door is set beneath a Tuscan portico with plain columns and a cornice. The roof is tiled and includes a large central square chimney stack.
