Description
Churchside, formerly known as Church Cottages, is a range of 17th to 18th century timber-framed and plastered cottages that have been converted into a single tenement. The building is one storey high with attics, featuring a six-window arrangement on the southeast side and a five-window arrangement on the northwest side, with small casements that have glazing bars. The original structure is characterized by crow-stepped gables, and there is a later addition at the northeast end that has two windows. The roof is tiled with old tiles and includes six gabled dormers on the southeast side and five on the northwest side. At the southwest end, there is a large external chimney stack with tabled offsets and a hexagonal shaft. The cottage range also has a central chimney stack with restored saw tooth shafts.
