Description

Wood Hall Farmhouse is a timber-framed house dating from the 16th to 17th centuries, originally built on an L-shaped plan with wings extending northwest and northeast. The southeast front was refaced in the 19th century using gault brick, featuring ornamental pilasters between window ranges and at the ends. It has a five-window front with double-hung sashes, some with glazing bars in plain reveals. First and second-storey windows flanking the central porch have cornices supported by console brackets, and the ground-floor outer windows are three-light. A stone central portico has pilasters, plain columns in antis, ornamented capitals, and a modillion cornice. The roof is slate, hipped, with a central chimney stack featuring four grouped octagonal shafts with moulded bases and caps on a square base.

At the rear, the house is two storeys high with attics, displaying a gable at the northeast end. The original timber framing is exposed, revealing several blocked window openings. Most windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars. The northwest wing has tiled roofs and two square chimney stacks, while the northeast wing features a tiled roof with a chimney stack having four octagonal shafts with moulded caps and bases.
