Description

1-5 Church Mews is a 17th-century timber-framed and plastered house, originally with cross wings at the east and west ends, now divided into three separate dwellings. The front elevation was altered in the 18th century. The rear of the buildings form a small courtyard. The main facade has two storeys and features a four-window arrangement with double-hung sash windows containing glazing bars. A 19th-century double-fronted shop is located at the north end of the front elevation. Number 2 features a doorcase with pilasters and an open pediment supported by console brackets. The building has a moulded wooden eaves cornice that runs along the front and across the gables of the cross wings. The roofs are tiled. A range of outbuildings extends to the rear, facing the churchyard, and are constructed of red brick with tiled roofs.
