Description

Hope Cottage is a timber-framed and plastered building dating from the 16th to 17th centuries, which was later refronted during the 18th and 19th centuries. It comprises two properties, numbers 133 and 135, on Bildeston High Street. Number 133 has a three-window front with double-hung sash windows containing glazing bars. A central doorway is flanked by a cart entrance at the north end and a workshop entrance between. Number 135 has a two-window front also with double-hung sash windows and glazing bars. The central entrance features a six-panel door set within a wooden doorcase with panelled reveals and a moulded architrave. The roofs are now tiled, though this is a modern replacement.
