Description
The Angel Inn, located at No 10 Egremont Street, is the north wing of a 16th-century timber-framed house designed in an L-shaped plan with extensions to the north and east. The gabled wing at the north end, which extends to the east, is a later addition now part of the Angel Inn. The east wing of the original house is now Nos 12 and 14. The building has two storeys and the main block was re-fronted in the 18th to 19th centuries. It features a two-window range of double-hung sashes with single vertical glazing bars, and a central doorway with an architrave and a cornice supported by console brackets. The north end wing has a gabled front and a jettied upper storey, with one window range that includes a three-light leaded casement on the first storey and a small canted bay on the ground storey with double-hung sashes. The roofs are tiled, and the main block has a hipped roof at the north end.
