Description

List House is originally a medieval timber-framed house with a 16th-century extension added to the south end and an 18th-century extension to the north end. In the early to mid-19th century, the entire building was refronted in gault brick. It is two storeys high with a seven-window front (arranged as one window on the left and six on the right). The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars, set in plain reveals, with stucco lintels supported by small brackets and stucco sills. There are two six-panelled doors, each with a semi-circular fanlight and panelled reveals, set within doorcases featuring fluted half-columns and open pediments. The roof is slate, and hipped at both the north and south ends. A rectangular chimney stack has been rebuilt on the base of an older stack at the south end. Inside, a ground-floor room features fine carved ceiling beams.
