Steps, balustrades and dressings of stone, red brick walls with some stone, multi-coloured paving slabs. The terrace to south, extends the length of the main block of the school terminating at St Vincent House to west and Collingwood House to east. Following the line of the building the central area is stepped to north. There are balustraded entrances at the south eastern and south western corners of the main block and balustraded flights of steps by the north west and west faces of Collingwood House, similar steps north east and east of St Vincent House. There are wide flights of balustraded steps with stone walls to eastern and western walls of the central bay. Central in the northern wall and flanked by stone walls, each with a round-headed doorway and 4 small circular lights, a double flight of steps with the stone saluting base between, rise to the saluting terrace and a wide balustraded single flight leads up to the main terrace. The balustraded saluting base has a central bowed balcony supported by diminishing mouldings rising from a lotus blossom. There is a stone bench, similar to those on the main terrace, qv 2/37 situated to east and west of the saluting terrace. The brick walls have moulded stone plinths and cornices, stone walls with moulded plinths and cornices. Balustrading with moulded plinths and handrails, the turned balusters each with base and capital and central waist, newels panelled, of square plan with capitals and bases, at the heads of the main flights of steps they form 3-sided bays. The concept is huge, backed by the school and facing the parade ground and River Stour is of impressive grandeur.
