Description

Wiston Hall is a red brick house built in 1791 by Sir John Soane for Samuel Beechcroft, who was a director of the Bank of England. Originally a very small house, it was enlarged again in the 1860s. The building has two storeys, attics, and cellars, featuring a three-window range with double-hung sashes that include glazing bars. The ground storey windows extend down to floor level and have stuccoed reveals. A central modern glazed door is framed by a stucco doorcase with pilasters and a cornice. The roof is tiled and has a dentilled eave course along with ornamental crest tiles. At the rear, there is a wing that was added during the 1860s. A small tablet with the initials SB and the date 1791 is positioned high up on the east wall of the house.
