Description
Lavenham Hall is a mainly 16th and 17th century timber-framed and plastered building, though it has been significantly altered in the 18th century and later. The roof is tiled. The house features a cross wing at its north end and extends over two storeys with attics. It has a six-window front, incorporating mainly double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. The ground floor includes some modern bays and a splayed bay with a slate roof on the south side. The entrance is marked by an 8-panel door with glazed upper panels, set within a Doric doorcase featuring plain columns, a dentilled frieze, and a cornice. Two large, modern, gabled dormers are visible on the front. A modern addition is present on the west side. The house is situated west of the original site of the de Vere family's hall, and a large fish pond lies to the south of the old hall’s remains.
