Description
Friars Farmhouse is a large early 17th-century timber-frame house located on the west side of Church Street in Morning Thorpe. The house is plastered and features a black glazed pantile roof, with gabled cross wings at each end. The north wing has a large external brick chimney stack on its north side, which includes octagonal flues with moulded brick bases. There is also an internal brick stack at the junction with the north wing, featuring diagonally set shafts. The building has two storeys and an attic, with attic windows located in the gable ends. Most of the windows are 18th or 19th-century three-light casements, some of which have leaded panes. A central brick porch from the 19th century is present, which is two storeys high and features a stepped gable, along with a doorcase that has a moulded architrave and a fielded panel door. Additionally, there is a 19th-century brick canted bay on the ground floor of the north wing.
