The Church of St John the Baptist is a Grade I listed building located on Church Street in Morning Thorpe. It features a 12th-century round west tower, which has a 14th-century top stage adorned with battlements. The tower includes an unmoulded arch with imposts. The nave and chancel are characterized by large Perpendicular windows, and there is a 19th-century south porch. Inside, the church has 19th-century arch-braced roofs, a decorated piscina with an ogee arch, and a 15th-century octagonal font that is supported by four lions on the stem and features four figures of angels and four lions on the bowl. Notable monuments include an Elizabethan tomb chest without an inscription and a tablet for Margaret Gostling from 1723, which is designed with twisted columns by Thomas Stayner.
